  • Buffalo Meat- Healthier than Beef

    There are approximately 500,000-head of Buffalo (bison) free ranging in the United States and Canada. Their numbers are increasing as they are being sought after as a healthy alternative to beef. Buffalo meat is being sought out for its great health benefits which include being significantly higher in protein, much lower in fat and calories, and slightly lower in cholesterol. Comparatively, these benefits are even much better than chicken and pork.

    The National Bison Association executive director said that locally-grown bison meat is available in nearly every state. It is also available for purchase online. Buffalo is easily cooked as long as it is cooked on lower heat and can be cooked in any recipe that calls for beef. Moisture is the key and slow cooking a buffalo roast until it falls apart will be the new Sunday tradition in any home. No more preservative filled beef jerky for your summer hikes.
