Dog Treat House Training
One of the first steps to house training your puppy is research. Different dog breeds will be able to hold it longer than others and some are just plain smarter than others. The age of your puppy will also need to be taken into account as the younger they are, the more frequently you will need to take them outside. The first day you get your pup, take it out every half hour and make adjustments from there. You may need to go out every 15 minutes or the opposite end of the spectrum and be able to wait an hour in between potty breaks.
When you take your puppy outside to where you would like him/her to go, give them plenty of time to sniff the ground and when they have done their business, give them a dog treat and lots and lots of praise, using whatever word you want to express what they have done. Always use the same word and when your dog gets the hang of it, you can ask them if they need to go “potty” and they will respond by going to the door or whining. Consistency, patience and many dog snacks will train your dog in a positive manner to eliminate outside and not in your home.
