My Alzheimer’s concerns
As of late, it seems like the subject of Alzheimer’s disease is becoming not necessarily a concern in my life, but it does keeps popping up. My step grandmother has been struggling with it for years and has recently been admitted to a full care facility. This is my poor grandfather’s second wife that he has cared for to the best of his ability. My grandmother died of colon cancer and now he is faced with trying to pay for the full time care of his second wife. My son in law’s grandmother is also suffering and still thinks he is 19 and unmarried to my daughter. My husband started a new job where he sells the newest Alzheimer’s drug that has no side effects and does slow the deterioration of the brain. My husband also informed me that people with several concussions have a bigger risk at developing Alzheimer’s. He has had five and the last concussion did really seem like he had Alzheimer’s. Even on TV, the character, Denny Crane on Boston Legal is dealing with memory loss and being an Alzheimer’s candidate. With all of these factors it does raise my concern.
I’ve researched some ways to battle this now dreaded disease in my own little world and this is what I’ve found. During later years in life, engaging in certain mental activities, like reading or crafting in middle age or later in life, may delay or prevent memory loss. Playing games, computer activities, doing crafts such as quilting also helps decrease the risk of developing memory loss. Television watching for more than seven hours a day showed a 50% increase in the risk of developing memory loss. Brain stimulation is the key. I have started quilting with my daughter making quilted tablecloths for square or rectangular kitchen tables. I can quilt fairly, but am not a quilt pattern designer. I have found buying quilt patterns online meets my needs for beginner quilt patterns. Now all I need to do is find a hobby for my husband that he will stick with and that will use his cognitive functioning. Dirtbiking and snowmobiling will not quite cut it, I fear.

Register Your Trademark or You May End up a Headline
Sometimes you just can’t believe what is found news worthy and worse yet what people will sue one another over. I ran across an article where two software applications software companies are disputing over the phrase, “Pull my finger”. Both companies have software applications that can be downloaded to multitasking cell phones to make flatulence sounds. One company states that the phrase has a unique brand identity that its competitor has infringed. They want $50,000 to settle the dispute and may sue in federal court. The other company disagrees of course and in a formal complaint says that the phrase is a common “descriptive” term used in its advertising and cannot be trademarked.
It seems confusing to me what types of trademarks there are, what you can trademark and what you can’t. What happens if you use some weird saying your grandpa said to you when you were little and you use it in an advertisement for your product? I guess, like auto and life insurance, it’s better to be prepared than not. Trademark registration can be easy and trademark search and application can be affordable when done by an experienced lawyer. When you want to start a trademark application, be sure that you find a lawyer that will give you the one on one attention needed to cover your rights as far as legally possible. Consultations are usually free and taking precautions can keep you off the news headlines.

Full Service Movers= Less Stress
Whether you are moving yourself or having a full service moving company pack and move you, moving is one of the most stressful occurrences in ones life. I found being organized though, can help reduce this stress. I have moved fifteen times, twice overseas and across 9 different states. Thank goodness only two of those times did we have to do the moving ourselves. It was less expensive, but I had to get rid of a lot of furniture and packing the truck with a little help from friends was back breaking work for my husband. With our last move I started with getting quotes from several different moving companies. We moved from Idaho Falls, Idaho and my best deal was from the local Idaho Falls moving company.
When having moving companies pack your household goods it is always a good idea to take personal valuables along with important papers out to a locked car or previous to the movers getting there placing them in a safety deposit box. Don’t forget to leave out some cleaning supplies to finish cleaning those last few tidbits in your old residence and see if a neighbor will let you use their vacuum. Also, don’t forget to leave all the keys for the new residents and especially the electric garage door opener. It’s not too expensive to mail them back, but it’s one less thing to worry about at your new home. Whether moving across town or over the state border in Idaho, the Pocatello, Shelley, Rexburg and Boise movers will save your back and make your moving experience a great deal less stressful.

Aesthetic Indoor fountains
Water features are a very stylish addition to enhance your home garden. However, a growing trend is to bring the luxurious tranquility that a water feature can bring from the outdoors into your home or office. Indoor fountains can be one of the most soothing and eye catching elements of repose that you will enjoy. They add grace and beauty to any surroundings and the sound of an indoor water wall will make your home or office sound like the most relaxing place in the world. Water features can be found easily online and range from less than one hundred dollars to thousands. There are many aesthetic designs to enhance your landscape and now even the indoors.

Snowboarding Rentals for Tamarack Ski Resort
If you are a snowboarding enthusiast Tamarack Ski Resort is one of the great places to get in some snowboarding time in Idaho. The slopes are excellent, and it’s only 15 miles from McCall, Idaho where you will find all the stores, services, and amenities that you will need for your snowboarding trip. If you are traveling by plane you can find ski and snowboard rentals at Pro Peak Sports. They have snowboard gear, apparel, rental, and repair all conveniently in on place. If you are buying a new snowboard and are a new rider, keep in mind your height, weight, boot size, gender, riding style, and riding ability. We purchased a snowboard for our son for Christmas and he found out that he likes free style more than shooting down the slope like our other son. Now he wants another board. When he started, I should have purchased a snowboard rental for Tamarack until I knew what form of snowboarding he liked better. Snowboards are shaped differently for each style and I recently found out that there are also snowboards shaped so that you can do both styles with the same board. Live and learn, but if you want to experience new snow and love to snowboard, Tamarack has what you are looking for.
